Important Notice Regarding Dog Excrement on Arbor Heights Playfield:

Dear Arbor Heights Families and Community Members,

I am writing to address a concerning issue that has recently arisen on our Arbor Heights Playfield. Over the past few weeks, dog excrement has increased on the field, posing significant safety hazards for our students, staff, and community members.

It has come to our attention that some individuals are allowing their dogs onto the playfield despite Seattle Public Schools’ explicit policy prohibiting dogs on school grounds. Dogs on the playfield have resulted in several unfortunate incidents where students and staff have slipped and fallen on the dog waste. Additionally, there have been instances where the excrement was tracked from the playground into the school building, creating unsanitary conditions for everyone.

We, as a school and community must emphasize the importance of adhering to District policy regarding dogs on the playfield. Not only does it pose a safety risk, but it also detracts from the positive environment we strive to maintain for our students and community members.

We kindly request your cooperation in ensuring that dogs are kept off the playfield. It is essential to recognize the impact of leaving dog waste behind and to consider the well-being of others who utilize the space.

Furthermore, we encourage responsible pet ownership by disposing of dog waste properly. Garbage receptacles are conveniently located on the playfield and in front of the school. We can collectively maintain a clean and safe environment by utilizing these receptacles.

As members of this community, we must work together to uphold the integrity of our shared spaces. Let us be considerate neighbors of the playfield, track, and play areas, ensuring they remain enjoyable and safe.

Thank you for your attention to this matter and your cooperation in helping us address this issue promptly. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school administration.

Sincerely,

Christy Collins, Arbor Heights Principal
