At this month’s PTSA meeting, we’ll be discussing Social Emotional Learning with Kai Kunkel (she/her). Kai serves as the Social Emotional Learning Project-Program Manager in Seattle Public Schools. At the heart of her work is a vision of children, educators, and families feeling confident in themselves and connected in their relationships. She provides training and support to schools and community organizations about Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills, e.g., self-awareness, self-management, self-efficacy, social awareness, social management, and social engagement, and loves the opportunity to bring SEL to life during workshops. Kai is a mom of two and knows firsthand that SEL skills aren’t always easy to model or teach at home, but finds joy in the trying!
